Occidental College, Computational Biology

Computational Biology is rapidly growing into an exciting and central area of research within the Biological Sciences. Novel data collection technologies, such as data loggers and next-generation sequencing, continue to amass enormous amounts of data. The need for research and development of computational techniques to process “Big Data” in Biology will only continue to grow.

The Oxy Comp Bio Lab focuses on computational methods in spatial ecology, landscape genetics and phylogeography, and conservation biology. As a research lab embedded in a Liberal Arts institution, we look for innovative, integrative, and interdisciplinary ways to address important scientific and societal issues.
